Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting

References

Flow Cytometry - A Basic Introduction - an online version of Michael Ormerod's book, hosted by Denovo Software. If you are new to flow cytometry, welcome. This is a good place to start.

Practical Flow Cytometry - an online version of Howard Shapiro's classic book, hosted by BeckmanCoulter. Considered by many to be the "Bible of Flow Cytometry".

Not just for immunologists: Guidelines for the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting in immunological studies (third edition), from Andrea Cossarizza et al. The guidelines cover theory and practical tips for flow cytometry applications, as well as important aspects of data analysis. Also contains useful tables on human and murine cell phenotypes.

The Flow Cytometry Core of the Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science has an excellent collection of applications and protocols for flow cytometry.

Spectral Databases

Some useful sites containing fluorophore excitation/emission spectra databases are

Spectra Viewer from Fluorofinder is useful in that it is manufacturer-independent

Fluorescence Spectrum Viewer from Becton Dickinson.

Fluorescence Spectraviewer from ThermoFisher/eBioscience (formerly Molecular Probes).

Spectraviewer from the folks at the Imaging Facility of the MPI for Brain Research in Frankfurt.

Fluorescent Protein Resource Center - in addition to excitation/emission maxima contains other useful information about fluorescent proteins and their properties.

Fluorophores.org - comprehensive database with useful spectral library.
